I hope you view the Presentations in the Discussion area and leave some positive comments for the very professional work many of you posted. Thank you! -- (I will not be posting the presentations here as your attachments in the Discussion area seemed to work fine.)
Here are the grades below. For those of you who did not do so well, please note the number of points that was necessary for As. When you do the work, keep in touch, come into the library and use the databases, it pays off in the end. Many of you have done really good work. Congratulations!

Citations and Banned Books
Please read the handout from the EVC library webpage and follow the MLA format for your citations, including the website citations. Scroll to MLA Style and print out this handout to use for your citations.
There are some good handouts and information on writing research papers at the OWL (Online Writing Lab) at Purdue University.
There was a question as to whether books were still being banned today in the discussion on the USA PATRIOT Act. These websites about the topic may be interesting. The Forbidden Library; Banned and Challenged Books. Check the books listed by title link. Or, The 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books of 1990–2000.This is only for ten years!

TEST 2--please submit!
Please SAVE each Answer and then press FINISH in order to submit the Test. This is very important in order for me to be able to grade. Please complete your tests. Don't rely on that May 25, 2005 12:00am time because the WebCT software is not completely reliable as to that 12:00 am time, it may close earlier. I would like you to try to complete your tests by Tuesday evening, to be safe.
My MS Word program has been having some corruption problems so I was not able to open a few assignments. If I sent you a note, please resend via WebCT email. My program seems fine now and I have graded all the Assignment 8 & 9 submissions to date.
I will be submitting my grades on Friday, May 27 so please submit everything you need to by Thursday, May 26 by midnight (that will give you a few hours after graduation). Thanks.

Assignment 7. Read through the nine tutorials on this CSU site http://www.lib.calpoly.edu/infocomp/modules/index.html and answer the following questions: What is Information Literacy/Competency? Another site to read for Information Competency is Humboldt State University Library. List the different parts to Information Competency and explain them in your own words. Write at least one (1) page on the topic.
THE RESEARCH PAPER ASSIGNMENT:
Choose any topic of interest to you and show how it has been helped or enhanced by the Internet. What has been the effect of the Internet on your topic?
-- Get approval for your topic first. Do only preliminary research until your topic is approved. Submit topic for approval via email.
-- Write down the steps you will be taking to do your research for your Research Paper. Include websites, books and magazine databases.
-- Write an outline for your Research Paper and submit by due date.
Once your topic is approved, write 6-18 typed (word processed), double-spaced pages on your topic as it relates to the Internet. ( 250 words per page) Include a Works Cited, or bibliography/webliography which has at least 3 (three) fully cited web sites and references to books, a magazine articles and any other sources such as email, newsgroups, newspaper articles.

Chat
I have tried to connect via Chat each semester but it seems to be really difficult for students to make the exact time. This is called synchronous teaching. Asynchronous teaching with email, courseware and the blog seems to work better. I have therefore moved the chat question to the Discussion area. Please discuss the topic and I will give you points there. I need to grade the Discussions at the end of the semester and add in the points so don't worry if they don't show up in My Grades. Test 2 and State Survey
The second test is now open and available. Please go to Tests and Surveys and click on Test 2 to take. The Test can only be taken twice and once is preferred by the software. Submit each answer AND don't forget to submit the test at the end.
Here is the link to the State Survey sent by the Distance Education dept. Take the in-course survey at the end of the course, after you have turned in your Research Paper, Presentation and Test 2. Happy Mother's Day
This is WEEK TWELVE for the Spring Semester in LIBRARY STUDIES 015. Please get your topic approved and complete your research paper and submit. Then prepare a PowerPoint for your PRESENTATION and submit. I will post your Presentations on my blog for other students to see. It should be a short summary of your topic with at least 3 websites given as reference. Document your research in the paper and in the presentation. TEST 2 will be made available next Sunday, May 15. It will be open for a week. Please take it during that time frame. I will keep it open until May 24th. After the last day of the semester, May 27, nothing will be graded or accepted. I will post the final grades on the blog after that so watch the blog.
